Introducing Young Horses to the Trail

When introducing a young horse to the trail for the first time it is a good idea to have an experienced horse along on the ride.  This proviedes a level of security for the young horse that otherwise would not be there in this new experiece.  When you get into a scary situation with the young horse (and every new situation will be scary for the first timer), the older and wiser horse will help your young horse learn to think through the new experiences.  Something that is life threatening to an inexperienced horse (like a rabbit, squirrel, deer, shadow, rock, etc...), is just another stroll in the park for an old timer.  Above all, keep the safety of you and your horse first.
